| Summary, etc |
Everyone has a favorite Bible verse or two. Some people's texts have changed their lives -- and other people's text have changed hundreds of lives.
Take Martin Luther's text for example: "The just shall live by faith." Not only did that short, powerful text burn in Martin Luther's heart, it ignited Reformation fires that burned across Europe and shaped the history of the church in all the centuries to follow. |
| Expansion of summary note |
In 1911, Frank W. Boreham decided to preach a series of sermons on such history-making texts. He began with Martin Luther's. On the following Sundays he turned to John Bunyan, Oliver Cromwell, George Whitefield, Charles Spurgeon -- all men whose favorite verses motivated their lives and made an impact on history. The sermon series continued for 125 Sundays, attracting more interest and winning more people to Christ than any other series the famous preacher had yet created. |
